Fruit production in Kalamazoo County is declining as fruit farms are converted to housing by the expansion of the City of Kalamazoo. Many Kalamazoo County growers have pick your own operations or sell their produce at roadside markets and the Bank Street Market in Kalamazoo. There is also the Peterson and Sons Winery in Eastern Kalamazoo County. Because of grape acreage in Kalamazoo County there is a retriction on using the ester form of 2,4-D in many parts of the county.
