Captan - 2 tablespoons per gallon of water. Start at bloom; spray every 10 to 14 days until harvest. Spray at least twice
during bloom or right after each rain during bloom. Add Diazinon or Imidan - 2 tablespoons per gallon of water or Sevin - tablespoons per gallon of water at petal fall and continue with mixture until harvest except: |
| Stop Diazinon 20 days before harvest and Imidan 14 days before harvest. | |
| Pear & Apple | Captan - 2 tablespoons per gallon of water. Start at first
sign of green tissue, spray before or right after each rain until petal fall. Then every
10 to 14 days until harvest or Sept. 15 whichever comes first. After petal fall add Sevin at 2 tablespoons per gallon of water or Diazinon at 2 tablespoons per gallon of water or Imidan at 2 tablespoons per gallon of water. |
| Stop Diazinon 14 days before harvest and Imidan 7 days before harvest. | |
| If mites appear, spray with Kelthane - 2 tablespoons per gallon of water. Spray 2 times at 7-day intervals. | |
| Plum & Cherry | Captan - 2 tablespoons per gallon of water and Benlate ¼
tablespoons per gallon of water. Start spraying when white can be seen in the buds Spray 2 times during bloom, once at petal fall, and once 2 weeks
following petal fall. Begin spraying Captan and Benlate again when fruit begins to color and
spray after each rain until harvest. Also apply Diazinon - 4 tablespoons per gallon of water. Apply at petal fall and again 19 days later. Begin Diazinon again when fruit starts to color and apply at 10-day intervals or with Captan or Benlate after each rain. |
| Stop Diazinon 10 days before harvest. | |
| Raspberries | Apply Benlate - ¼ tablespoon per gallon of water. Begin at first sign of new leaves. Apply at 10-day intervals until first harvest. Add Diazinon - 4 tablespoon per gallon when new growth is 4 inches long and continue at same interval as Benlate. |
| Stop Diazinon 7 days before harvest begins. | |
| Begin again after harvest at 14-day intervals until leaf drop. | |
| Strawberries | Apply Benlate - ¼ tablespoon per gallon of water plus
Captan - 3 tablespoons per gallon of water. Begin when buds are visible in the crown and apply after each rain or irrigation through harvest. |
| Do not use Captan within 4 days of harvest. | |
| Apply Thiodan - 2 tablespoons per gallon of water at first 25% bloom, again when bloom is ½ open and again when last 25% of bloom is open. | |
| Grapes | Apply Captan - 2 tablespoons per gallon plus Benlate at ¼
tablespoon per gallon. Put first spray on when new shoots are 3 inch long. Repeat on 6 to
7 inch shoots Add Sevin - 2 tablespoons per gallon to mixture at bloom and again when grapes are the size of BB's. Begin spraying again about July 20 with complete mixture of Captan + Benlate + Sevin. Apply 3 sprays at 14-day intervals. |
Many people find that they can get better control of insects and diseases by doubling the mixture rate and cutting the water used by half - thus concentrating the spray like commercial growers do.
