Michigan has a large commericial fruit industry, so most of MSU’s fruit resources are focused on commercial growers.
Some of these resources are useful to backyard hobbists.

Books are marked with I-Introductory, B-Basic and T-Technical

Fruit Pest Management

Michigan Fruit Management Guide. (B) Michigan State University Extension Bulletin E-154, approximate cost is $19. Obtain from the local Extension office. This annually updated bulletin is the most widely used bulletin for commercial fruit growers in Michigan. It includes basic pesticide information and pesticide recommendations for major fruit crops grown in Michigan.  Unless you have a large planting buying commericial quanities of pesticides for home use makes little sense since the homeowner does not use lare quaniites of pesticides and has no way to store them from year to year.

I recommend the two books below to all home fruit growers.

Michigan State University Extension. 252 pages. $10 soft cover, A Comprehensive review of the fruit insect pests of the Eastern U.S.  This is an excellent resource for the interested amateur as well as the professional, Short descriptions and good pictures.  I recommend this book to all that are interested in controlling insects in their fruit planting
