HORTICULTURE Cranberry Information and Web Sites
Michigan has almost 250 acres of cranberries. There are several small farms in the Upper Peninsula and one large new planting in Cheboygan County in the Northeastern Lower Peninsula. All the rest of the recent cranberry plantings have been in the 5 counties on the Southern Lake Michigan Shore. Cranberries are members of the heath family and are related to Blueberries and have similar site requirements. While there is interest in new cranberry plantings the high cost of site preparation has kept most ventures in Michigan small.
