Allegan County Fruit Plantings
Allegan County is the third largest fruit growing county in Southwest Michigan. There is a large fruit processing plant in Fenneville and the Trevor Nichols Research Complex is located nearby. Just south of Fenneville is Fenn Valley Winery. Good blueberry soil makes this county third in blueberry acreage. There are also substantial acreages of apples, cherries and peaches. Fruit plantings are concentrated in the western edge of the county on the tops of numerous sandy ridges (old sand dunes). But there are good fruit sites thoughout the county.
