We were in the State of Punjab from October 26 to 29. The name Punjab means five waters and denotes the fact that the five tributaries of the Indus River run through the region. The Punjab is the home of the Sikh religion and a majority of the population is Sikh. The Sikhs do not shave or cut their hair and the men often wear turbans. The Punjab was divided during the Partition of India and Pakistan; many families were displaced and relocated. This allowed India to perform a lot of land reform in this State. The Punjab is probably the richest agricultural area in India. In the Punjab, we stayed at the Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana and traveled to Amritsar to see the Sikh Golden Temple and visited KVKs at Patiala and Kapurthala. We also visited farms near these KVKs
