Meeting Minutes
April 12, 2006

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Janet Tripp at 7:00 PM at the Lawrence Conference Center.

Attendees:  Janice Zerbe, Ron DeVries, Melva DeVries, Nancy Wheatley, Shannon Hoyt, Melva Thayer, Casey Tripp, Ken Tomsa, Terri Novotny, Janet Tripp, Lizbeth Termeer, Wendy Fisher, additional attendees listed in official minutes’ file. (45 attendees)

Meeting minutes from the previous meeting were approved as presented.  MMSC Casey & Nancy

The treasurer’s report was approved as presented. MMSC Melva T & Casey

Treasurer’s report is provided at each meeting, the original signed copy is on file. 

Bills and Correspondence:  No bills or correspondence presented.

Committee Reports:  The Rules for fair and the State Horse show were provided to all leaders and the changes were discussed.  The State Show is scheduled for August 18,19,20 2006, we have 16 slots to fill. 

Ribbons for the open shows were delivered and the bill has been paid per previous approval.

Grounds committee has no new info to report as of yet, but when the weather breaks there will be plenty.

Show Committee will present numbers for the exhibitors for the July meeting.  May 13 9-1 and June 25 1-5 are the work days for the State Show participants.  Jim (Hollis) requested that HC reimburse for supplies used during fair week in the booth, i.e., ink cartridges and paper.  Bill to be presented after fair and discussion was in favor of reimbursement.

New Business:  Weekender fundraiser benefit for Jim Hollis (until there’s an official title) was discussed.  Val, Mel and Janet are working on the plans.  The plan is to have a variety of horse demonstrations, a dinner and a dance along with a horse show on Sunday.  The event is being planned for the weekend of August 5th and 6th.  MSU Rodeo club has been contacted.  There will be flyers as soon as definitive times and activities are confirmed.  Marc DeLisle has donated his time to judge the show, Tom Gear will announce, Roger Newton will head up the food booth.  Rick’s Tack is donating the ribbons. There will be overnight camping ($25.00) with all proceeds (after expenses) donated to the Benefit fund.  Stalls will also be available for $20.00 and you will need to clean your own stalls.   Entry fees for activities on Saturday will be $10.00 per car load.  The fee for showing on Sunday is $25.00 per horse/exhibitor combination for all day.  

Announcements:        Young Explorers Horse show is June 25th .

                                    Still need volunteers for the May 13th show.
