Meeting Minutes
March 7, 2005

The meeting was called to order by President L. Godines at 7:00 p.m.  Directors present:  L. Godines, Dorr, M. Godines, Rainey, Blackwell, DeVries, D. Glover, M. Glover, Popp, and Serdel.  Garrod arrived at 7:20 p.m.  Tripp was excused.     Guests included:  Janice Rajzer, Karron Tortorelli, Melva DeVries, Tammy & Sarah Burch, Warren Sell, Lori Mayuiers and Dave & Tricia Streich.

Sec. Godines read the February 7th minutes.  They were accepted as read.

Treas. Rainey reviewed the Profit & Loss Statement and the Balance Sheet.  Motion by M. Godines, supported by Blackwell to accept the report.  Motion carried.  Rainey presented the bills to be paid in the amount of $110.00.  Motion by Blackwell, supported by D. Glover to pay the bills.  Motion carried.  Income totaled $5,335.00.

Old Bus:  We have not received the signed contract from Premier Animal Attractions.  Debbie Glover to contact them.

M. Godines reported that Cinda Karlik from the MDA has stated that the Carcass Class has been approved - a letter will be sent from Lansing.

Boat Storage:  Discussion followed regarding the rates for Fall Storage.  Motion by Blackwell, supported by M. Godines to charge the following for the 2005 Fall Storage Rates:

Motion carried.

R.G. Sound will be sending the contracts for the Sound System and the Radio Rentals.

Garrod reported that WAY-FM would charge about $15,000 to partner with us for a Tuesday  night program.  Blackwell reported that WDOW would charge about $5,000 to get a band for Tuesday night.  They would require a hospitality tent and refreshments.  Discussion followed regarding having a Battle of the Bands.   Tammy & Sarah Burch, Tricia Streich and Karron Tortorelli have offered to help with the program.  Rainey is to check with CoSY 98 to see if they would sponsor the event.

Motion by Rainey, supported by M. Godines to have Beth Mayuiers as the new Asst. Dog Supt.  Motion carried.

The NBHA has not contacted Godines regarding their show.  M. Godines to call again.

New Business:  K. Tortorelli asked if we would like to advertise in the Oak Shores Campground Booklet for their Father's Day Civil War Re-enactment Program.

JLPA has contracted with Tom Gear to help them with their Auction this year.  JLPA is also requiring buyers to sign a contract regarding the purchase and payment of the animal and where it is to be shipped.

Warren Sell reported that the JLPA Building Committee met and discussed pouring concrete at the north end of the new building, also pour a walkway with a loading ramp and a 5' walkway for the swine runway.  They want to set up the arena and put the grandstands at the ends of the new facility.  They plan on setting this up in mid-April.

Blackwell questioned if we had anyone to clean the restrooms.  Del Troutman from the Methodist Church Kitchen implied that she might have some people for the job.

Blackwell reported that TORCO Racing will have the two spots that were occupied by Kitchen Craft last year.  They are moving outside this year.  TORCO Racing would also like to have a small trailer by the gate entrance to the grandstand the night of the Demolition Derby.  Blackwell is still waiting to hear from Dodge Trucks for a sponsorship.

Lori Mayuiers from the Domestic Animal Committee presented changes they would like to see in the Dog Classes. 

Ron DeVries reported that he has collected $9,000.00 plus for Fair Book Ads this year.  He still has to canvas the South Haven Area.  Melva DeVries has almost all of the trophy sponsorships collected at this time.

Motion by Dave Rainey, supported by Norm Popp not to allow any more class changes in the Fair Book for the next three (3) years unless mandated by the MDA.  Motion carried.

Dave Streich has dropped of some light poles to be used on the grounds.

Motion by DeVries, supported by Blackwell to adjourn.  Motion carried.  

Next regular meeting:  Monday, April 4, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairgrounds.
