Michigan Onsite Wastewater Training
and Education Center
The Michigan Onsite Wastewater Training and Education Center is used by campus faculty and
wastewater experts to teach a variety of onsite waste disposal and soils topics. These
classes are one and two days long and deal with the proper selection, installation,
and maintenance of septic tanks, drain fields, pressure systems, sand filters, oxygenators and
other small-scale wastewater disposal systems. Classes are aimed primarily at
sanitarians, contractors, installers, inspectors and anyone else that is interested in
knowing about what goes on once wastewater leaves the house. Classes are generally
small with time divided between lectures and hands-on demonstrations. There is always
lots of opportunity for questions and discussion.
