Information about funding opportunities and grant programs are arranged under

Federal Grant Programs
- National Science Foundation:
This links back to STIS. All publications, press releases, and program
announcements available
directly on-line on a full-text retrievable system.
- National Science Foundation Grants Bulletin Board.
GRANTS is a mailing list for the discussion of topics related to NSF
Grants. As a
service to Grants readers, informative messages such as summaries of new program
announcements, the NSF Bulletin, and other items of interest are
periodically posted. To get on or off the list, or for additional information
about the list, send a
message to grants-request@nsf.gov (Internet)

- NIH Guide: NIH offers an electronic
version of
the NIH Guide via its Gopher server. You may search for NIH grants and
retrieve full
texts of Requests for Applications (RFA's) and Program
Announcements.
- NIEHS: This is the National
Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences Gopher.
- NIMH: This is the
National
Institute of Mental Health Gopher.
- Department of Education Researchers Guide:
DOE
Office of Education Research and Improvement (OERI) offers access to
announcements,
bulletins, press releases, and some funding opportunities.
- DoEd Bulletin Board System: The
Department of
Education's Grants and Contracts Services is the definitive source for DoEd
grant information,
including Federal Register notices, Program Announcements,, and Guide
to grant programs. Internet link is telnet through
FEDWORLD (enter Federal gateway, connect to Gov't Sys/database, and enter
"110" at
prompt for bulletin board access.
- HHS Grant
Net: An
information hub for HHS and other federal grant-related information, including a
directory of
Federal grant officials.
- HCFA Cooperative
Agreements and
Grants: Provides information about the availability of grant and cooperative
agreement
solicitations and announcements.
- FEDIX/MOLIS (Department of Energy, ONR, AFOSR,
USDA,
EPA, NASA): FEDIX databases provide information on agency research
opportunities, program contacts, scholarships, research equipment
grants. It provides information from the Department of Energy, Commerce, HUD,
NASA, FAA,,
ONR, AFOSR, and AID. MOLIS
and HERO is useful for finding minority and women's research grants and
fellowships.
- USGS: This is the USGS Web Home Page.
There is
some limited information about funding and staff contacts.
- NIST: Links to NIST Gopher and
Advanced
Technology Program Guidelines
- NASA K-12
InternetInitiative
(Quest): Currently one of the top sites forquality K-12 information on the
'Net. Short lists of
carefully selectedsites and collections. Includes Cooperative
Agreement Announcement for NASA HPCC/K-12 Internet Project
- Department of Agriculture: Links back to
FEDIX
- Department of Justice: Links to
Department of
Justice Programs, including Partnerships Against Violence (PAVNET). PAVNET also
provides
some links to non-federal $.
- Corporation for National
and Community
Service: CNCS provides funding for a range of community service programs for
individuals,
k-12 programs, and higher education.
- Catalogue of Federal
Domestic
Assistance via Arizona State: The OMB compiles a directory of all federal
grant programs.
Search on-line using keywords. The CFDA gives information such as
the name of the agency administering the program, objectives, eligibility,
application procedures,
and deadlines.

Non-Federal Programs
- The Foundation Center: An independent
nonprofit
organization established by foundations in 1956 to increase public understanding
of the
foundation field. The Center provides a comprehensive and up-to-date database on
foundations
and corporate giving programs, and publishes The Foundation Directory--the
classic reference
work for grantseekers--and some 50 other directories, guides and research
reports.
- National Academy of Sciences (NAS): Links
to NAS
WWW Home Page, and some interesting information.
- Grantsmanship Center The Grantsmanship Center is organizing an
Electronic Grants Task Force to "explore the full range of grant-related
activity involving
electronic communication." For information about how to participate contact

- American Educational
Research
Association: AERA Home Page and its sister Gopher site provides a number of
links,
especially to State Education Departments and other educational research
resources. Some have good information about grant opportunities (e.g. Oregon
Department of
Education)
- American Heart Association:
Includes
funding available from the National Center Research Program
- Artsedge: Home Page of the National
Arts and
Education Information Network, a cooperative agreement among the John F.
Kennedy
Center for the Performing Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, and the
Department of Education. This page leads to a
number of potential funding opportunities and grant programs, both federal and
private, including
NEA.
- Important Deadlines for
Fellowships
and Grants :The Chronicle of Higher Education provides upcoming
deadlines for both
private and federal grant programs (also meetings)
- NSERC/CRSNG Gopher: The
InternetGopher
server at the Natural Sciences andEngineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
offers
bilingual, Internetaccess to NSERC news and publications. Funding opportunities
are limited to Canadian faculty. Interesting to contrast Canadian grant
management policies and
procedures with US Federal agencies.

- BEST Data
Bases: A series
of databases that provide information about research funded by the Federal
Government. These
data bases contain names and addresses of Principal
Investigators, grant titles, abstracts, and keywords associated with grants
funded by the
NIH, NSF,USDA,the SBIR, and the ATP Advanced technology Program of NIST
- ERIC: The Education Resource
Education Center
offers information on virtually every aspect of K-12 education.

CRIS/
USDA:
CRIS/USDA contains information on ongoing and recently completed
projects sponsored or conducted primarily within the USDA and State
university research system. Some 30,000 project summaries, including
latest progress reports and lists of recent publications coming out
of the research, are maintained in the file on an ongoing basis. Search via
SURANET.

Proposal Development Tools
- Proposal and Other Forms:
These forms
were developed by the Texas Research Administrators Group (TRAM)
- NSF FASTLANE: FastLane uses a
Mosaic
interface to facilitate many grant business transactions, including proposal
submission, proposal
status inquiries, submission of final reports, and
pre-formatted lists of awards by state, institution, NSF programs,
etc. All Required NSF Proposal Forms can be completed using the forms
capability of Mosaic.
This site is a demonstration server "under construction". Check it out and leave
comments for
the developers.

National Grant Management Association
The National Grant Management Association (NGMA) is an
organization of
professionals responsible for the administration of assistance programs. This
includes Federal,
state, and local government officials; representatives of colleges and
universities, private foundations, and others. The Association seeks to improve
the management
of assistance programs by providing professional development opportunities,
encouraging
dialogue and sharing experiences among its members on issues of
common interest and concern, by means of personal contact, seminars, national
conferences,
and publications.
