Holcus lanatus - Velvet Grass

Flowers: White

Comments: Velvet Grass prefers a moist soil and exposure to
sun or partial shade. The leaves are soft and give the plant
its common name. The leaves are about 2 feet tall but the
flower spikes will provide additional height. This grass may
go dormant after it flowers. Cutting the plants back after
flowering may encourage new leaf growth. The flowers can be
used in both fresh and dried arrangements.

Propagation: Seed or division.

Cultivars:
'Variegatus' - The leaves are white with a green central
stripe. The cultivar is shorter, about 6 inches tall.
