Polygonum virginianum
Hardiness Zones: 4 to 9
Height: 4 ft Spread:
Type: herbaceous perennial
Flowers: White
Comments: Colored foliage rather than flowers is the main
reason this knotweed is grown. The flowers are greenish-
white and appear in late summer. Cultivars provide various
variations in leaf coloration. Knotweeds should be used
with caution as they often become invasive weeds.
Cultivars:
'Lance Corporal' - The yellowish-green leaves have a
maroon marking in the center.
'Painter's Palette' - The flowers are red, the leaves are
variegated (Vis. 1) with white.
