Comments: This low growing shrub (Vis. 1) is grown both for
its low habit and bright red fruits. An additional
ornamental trait is the dark red fall foliage color. During
the growing season the foliage is dark green and glossy.
Cultivars:
var. praecox - More vigorous, larger plant than the
species. It will be 3 feet tall and has larger
leaves and fruit.
'Tom Thumb' - A miniature with a compact habit and tiny
leaves.
