Fertilizing Tender Bulbs
At planting apply one-half pound 10-6-4 fertilizer for
each 50 square feet. This is the only time a high
nitrogen fertilizer is used. At flowering, fertilize with
no more than one-half pound of 5-10-5 fertilizer per 50
square feet. If the plants are large, or widely spaced,
place a light ring of fertilizer around each plant.
Planting areas in flower beds for several years may not
need additional fertilizer if previous plantings were
fertilized. An alternative fertilizer is three pounds of
bone meal per 50 square feet of bed.
