Saving Perennial Seed
Seed saved from hybrids usually produces plants of
inferior quality. However, some perennials do produce
true from seed.
Extra seed can be stored in a cool, dry place in a
tightly sealed jar. When planted the following season do
not expect all of the seed to come up. The extra storage
time reduces the germination percentage so plant stored
seed thicker. Copy the plant name and its cultural
requirements on a slip of paper and place it in the
container with the seeds. Two tablespoons of dry powdered
milk, in 2 layers of tissue, will keep the seed dry.
