Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum--Doublefile Viburnum

Comments: Doublefile Viburnum (Vis. 13) produces flat
clusters of white flowers. These are followed by red fruit
(Vis. 15) that later turn black. The flower and fruit
clusters are usually lined up in two rows on the upper sides
of the branches. The horizontal branching habit gives the
plant a layered look. The fall foliage color (Vis. 14) is
purplish red.

Cultivars:
'Coles' - This cultivar is straight plicatum not var.
tomentosum. It produces a wide plant that bears
round heads of white flowers.
'Everblooming' - Sporadic flushes of bloom are produced
throughout the season.
'Kern's Pink' ('Roseace') - The ball-shaped flowers are
pink and are displayed on a plant 15 feet tall and 8
feet wide.
'Lanarth' - Larger flowers.
'Magic Puff' - Plants 4 feet tall will be slightly wider.
White flowers are followed by red and black fruit.
'Mariesii' - An improved cultivar (Vis. 7) with larger
flowers.
'Mary Milton' - This cultivar is straight plicatum.
The flowers (Vis. 1) are pink and the new foliage has
reddish tints.
'Nana' - A dwarf form, 3 feet tall (Vis. 8) but with few
flowers.
'Newzam' - (Newport, TM) - This cultivar is straight
plicatum not var. tomentosum. It is a rounded
compact plant (Vis. 2) that produces rounded clusters
of white flowers (Vis. 3). The height and spread
about 5 feet.
'Pink Beauty' - Pink flowers and a smaller plant than
the species (Vis. 9).
'Pink Dawn' - Bright pink flowers, purplish new growth.
'Popcorn' - The name refers to the profuse production of
round clusters of white flowers. The plants will be 7
feet tall and 6 feet wide.
'Sawtooth' - A straight plicatum cultivar with large
flowers and prominently toothed leaves (Vis. 4).
'Shasta' - A spreading plant (Vis. 10) that produces
6-inch wide flower clusters.
'Shoshoni' - A slow growing plant, about 5 feet tall
that blooms heavily.
'Summer Snowflake' - A 6-foot tall plant (Vis. 11) that
flowers throughout the season.
'Trizam' - (Vis. 6) (Triumph, TM) - A somewhat smaller
cultivar with heavy flower production (Vis. 5).
'Watanabei' - Continuous flowering (Vis. 12) throughout
the growing season.
'Weeping Magic' - A compact plant reaching a height of 4
feet but spreading to 6 feet. The name refers to its
pendulous branches.
