Flowers: Yellow
Comments: The garden types of Goldenrod are the result of
breeding and selection programs. The plants are long-
lived and adaptable but best growth occurs in a well-
drained soil and when the plant are exposed to full sun.
The flowers (Vis. 1) vary in shade of yellow depending on
cultivar and are produced in late summer or fall.
Self-seeded volunteers of some species can become a weeds.
Propagation: Seed or division.
Cultivars:
'Crown of Rays' - Large yellow flowers, plant 2 feet
tall.
'Golden Fleece' - Plants 18 inches tall produce gold
flowers.
'Lemore' - Actually a cultivar of x Solidaster luteus, a
cross between aster and solidago. Plants about 18
inches tall produce yellow flowers.
