Quercus palustris--Pin Oak
Hardiness Zones: 4 to 8
Height: 70 ft Spread: 35 ft Form: pyramidal
Type: deciduous tree
Annual Growth Rate: more than 18 inches
Comments: Pin Oak's lower branches are drooping and may
interfere with lawn maintenance. Pin Oak grows in sun or
partial shade and prefers a moist, rich, acid soil. The
leaves develop chlorosis, due to iron deficiency, on high
pH soil. Although many remedies can be tried, none will
succeed. The tree has a scarlet fall color (Vis. 1).
Cultivars:
'Crozam' (Crownpointe TM) - A hybrid between Q. palustris
and Q. coccinea with a good pyramidal form.
