Pinus sylvestris--Scotch Pine
Hardiness Zones: 3 to 7
Height: 50 ft Spread: 30 ft Form: irregular
Type: narrow-leaved evergreen tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches
Comments: Scotch Pine (Vis. 2) is a widely planted evergreen
with bluish-green foliage that usually turns yellowish-green
in winter. Orangish bark (Vis. 1), peeling in papery
flakes, is visible through the canopy. The plant will
tolerate dry soil. In recent years the tree has been
bothered with fatal attacks of pine wood nematode,
therefore, its use in landscapes is not recommended.
