Picea glauca--White Spruce

Type: narrow-leaved evergreen tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches

Comments: White Spruce is a densely, (Vis. 6) pyramidal
spire with bluish-green needles (Vis. 7). The tree is
widely used for its site adaptability.

Cultivars:
'Alberta Blue' - A 'Conica' with bluish foliage.
'Alberta Globe' - A globe-shaped plant.
'Albertiana 'Conica' ('Conica') - Dwarf Alberta Spruce -
A dense, cone-shaped plant with a very slow growth rate
(Vis. 3).
'Bakeri' - Silver blue foliage.
'Brevifolia' - The tree has very small needles.
'Cecilia' - A globose, compact selection (Vis. 9) with
bluish foliage.
'Coerulea' - A narrow plant with bluish-green foliage
(Vis. 1).
'Densata' - Black Hills Spruce - Leaves light green to
bluish-green; more ornamental and denser than white
spruce (Vis. 4).
'Dent' - The foliage is variegated with white.
'Echiniformis' - A low plant (Vis. 10) with bluish
foliage. Very slow-growing.
'Fort Ann' - An unusual tree with sparse and gnarled
branches.
'Hudsonii' - A bushy plant with bluish foliage.
Jean's Dilly TM - A smaller, slower-growing version of
'Conica'. Found at Iseli Nursery in 1981.
'Little Globe' - A compact, globose plant.
'Morton Arboretum Weeping' - A weeping form. (Vis. 8)
'Pendula' - A weeping form eventually becoming a
narrow, conical shape with hanging branches (Vis. 5).
'Pixie' - A dense, cone-shaped plant.
Rainbow's End TM - The new growth is yellow and
contrasts with the older, green foliage. Found at
Iseli Nursery in 1978.
'Sanders Blue' - A slate-blue form of the Dwarf Alberta
Spruce (Vis. 2).
