Ornamental Plants plus Version 3.0 - 00000975
11/12/99
Narcissus hybrids--Daffodil
Height: 20 in Spacing: 9 in
Type: hardy bulb
Flowers: Orange, pink, red, white, yellow
Comments: There are many types of Daffodils and most are
suitable for naturalistic planting. They are long-lived
but will not tolerate water-logged soil. They do like a
fertile well-drained soil. The flowers (Vis. 1) last longer
in partial shade. Daffodils are planted in the fall, 6
inches deep and 6 inches apart. Plant miniatures closer
together and not as deep. Double nosed bulbs are actually
two blooming sized bulbs joined together. These produce
two flowers instead of one.
Propagation: Daffodils are divided when the leaves mature.
Many leaves and few flowers indicate a need for dividing.
