11/12/99
Lycoris squamigera--Magic Lily
Height: 24 in Spacing: 5 in
Type: hardy bulb
Flowers: Pink
Comments: Magic Lily (Vis. 3) needs a winter protective
mulch or it may be grown as a pot plant. The bulb produces
strap-like leaves (Vis. 2) which are gone by the time the
flowers (Vis. 1) appear. The plant likes a sunny location
and a well-drained soil. Plant in August before flowering
with the neck of the bulb just above the soil. Once the
bulbs are established,
leave them alone.
Propagation: The bulbs may be divided in August if needed.
