Comments: Although weak wooded, Goldenraintree is rarely
attacked by pests and grows in a wide range of soils. It
tolerates dryness and casts little shade before early
June. The tree bears large panicles (Vis. 2) of yellow
flowers in late July or early August when few other trees
bloom. The seed pods (Vis. 3) look like brown Chinese
lanterns.

Cultivars:
'Rose Lantern' - The seed pods are flushed with pink.
'September' - The yellow flowers are produced about 5
weeks later than the species.
