Juniperus communis--Common Juniper

Annual Growth Rate: less than 12 inches

Comments: Common Juniper is a tough plant that can be used
in a variety of challenging sites. Although it is
adaptable it may not have the ornamental characteristics
of some other junipers. The foliage turns brown during
the winter.

Cultivars:
'AmiDak' (Blueberry Delight TM) - This cultivar was
introduced by North Dakota State University. The plant
gets its name from the heavy crops of berry-like cones
which resemble blueberries. The plant is about 1 foot
tall and 5 feet wide.
'Berkshire' - A one-foot tall, slow growing form. Bluish
foliage (Vis. 2)
'Compressa' - A slow-growing plant that forms a
compact, narrow, cone.
'Depressa Aurea' - A spreading plant with yellow foliage.
'Effusa' - A spreading, flat plant, the new foliage is
tipped with brown.
'Gold Cone' - A columnar form with yellow foliage.
'Green Carpet' - A prostrate plant with green foliage.
'Oblonga Pendula' - A broad plant with weeping branches.
'Repanda' - A 15-inch tall plant with silvery-green
foliage. Spreads up to 8 feet (Vis. 1).
'Sentinel' ('Pencil Point') - Narrow, columnar form.
'Suecia Nana' - A columnar dwarf with a rounded top.
'Windsor Gem' - Dark green foliage on a prostrate plant.
