Comments: Like other hydrangeas, this one produces
panicles of white flowers Vis. 11) in summer when few other
shrubs are in bloom. The old flowers can be used in dried
arrangements. The plant (Vis. 12) has a rather coarse
texture.
Cultivars:
'Boskoop' - A rounded drooping shrub with large white
flower clusters (Vis. 1).
'Brussel's Lace' - Long, open clusters (Vis. 2) of white
blooms.
'Burgundy Lace' - The flowers open pale pink becoming
mauve with age.
'Compact' - This compact plant reaches a height and
spread of about 6 feet (Vis. 3). The double, white
flowers become pinkish toward fall.
'Grandiflora' (PeeGee Hydrangea) - Large, white flowers
change to pink as they age (Vis. 4).
'Kyushu' - An upright spreading shrub (Vis. 5) with white
flowers (Vis. 6).
'Pee Wee' - A dwarf form only 4 feet tall.
'Pink Diamond' - The large flower clusters open white
and then become pink (Vis. 7).
'Ruby' (Angel's Blush) - The white flowers change to
light pink and then to red.
'Tardiva' - The white flowers (Vis. 8) are produced later
than grandiflora. The flowers are in pointed, 6-inch
clusters.
'Unique' - Upright habit with large (Vis. 9) white
flowers that turn pink as they age.
'Webbs' - An improved Pee Gee, reaching a height of 20
feet.
'White Lace' - Pure white flowers (Vis. 10).
'White Moth' - Large, round clusters of white flowers.
