Comments: Downy Hawthorn tolerates heavy or infertile
soil. The tree is dense and has larger leaves than other
hawthorns. The flowers (Vis. 2), borne in April or May, are
white marked with red. The fruit are red (Vis. 1) but drop
early and the fall color is yellow.
