Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches
Comments: Grow Falsecypress cultivars in a sunny location
in moist, well-drained loam. Some of the cultivars listed
grow too large for use in foundation planting. There may
be problems with sun scorch on some cultivars.
Cultivars:
'Aurea Compacta' - Soft green foliage with golden tips.
A low growing, mound-shaped plant.
'Baby Blue' - A dwarf form of 'Boulevard'.
'Boulevard' ('Cyano-viridis') - Soft, silver-blue foliage
on a full pyramidal habit.
'Compacta' - A slow growing, mound-shaped plant.
'Compacta Variegata' - A mounded plant with yellow
foliage variegation.
'Curly Tops' - A small plant with blue foliage and
twisted branches.
'Devon Cream' - White foliage during the growing season.
var. filifera - Long, thin, thread-like (Vis. 5) foliage
and an irregular, mounding habit(Vis. 4). Can become a
large tree with time.
var. filifera 'Aurea' - A slow growing cultivar with
yellow, thread-like foliage (Vis. 2) where exposed to
sunlight (Vis. 1).
var. filifera 'Aurea Nana' - The foliage is yellow on
the tips. The plant becomes an irregular mound.
var. filifera 'Aureovariegata' - A mounded form with
green and golden yellow foliage.
var. filifera 'Gold Spangle' - Bright yellow foliage all
year.
var. filifera 'Mops' - A low, mounding plant with
yellow, thread-like foliage, height and spread of 3
feet.
var. filifera 'Nana' - A rounded, (Vis. 3) slow-growing
plant with thread-like foliage.
var. filifera 'Sungold' - Bright yellow new growth.
'Gold Dust' - Foliage with yellow variegations.
'Golden Pin Cushion' - A slow-growing, spreading,
plant with yellow foliage.
'Iceberg' - White new growth.
'Lemon Thread' - Somewhat thread-like, yellow foliage.
'Mini Variegated' - A rounded plant less than 3 feet
tall. The foliage has creamy white markings.
'Plumosa Aurea Nana' ('Plumosa Aurea Compacta') - A dwarf
with yellow foliage at the tips of the branches.
'Plumosa Compressa Aurea' - A dwarf with tiny, gold-
tipped foliage.
'Plumosa Cream Ball' - Whitish foliage.
'Plumosa Cristata' - Plants have persistent juvenile
foliage.
'Plumosa Flavescens' - A conical or rounded plant. The
foliage is at first yellow then changes to yellowish-
green.
'Plumosa Juniperoides' ('Plumosa Juniperoides Aurea') - A
compact shrub with pale yellow new growth
'Silver Lode' - Foliage with white variegations.
'Snow' ('Miko') - A small plant with bluish foliage
variegated with white.
'Squarrosa Intermedia' - Thin foliage along branches
provides an unusual appearance.
'Squarrosa Lutea' - Foliage is pale yellow, need
protection from bright light and wind.
'Squarrosa Minima' - A slow-growing, globe-shaped form.
'Sungold' - New growth is bright yellow.
'Tama Himiro' - A rounded dwarf with bluish-green young
foliage.
'Tsukumo' - An irregular plant with fine-textured
foliage.
'Weston Selection' - A dense pyramidal plant with
darker foliage than the species.
'White Pygmy' - A small plant with white-tipped
foliage.
