Campanula glomerata--Clustered Bellflower
Hardiness Zones: 4 to 10
Height: 18 in Spacing: 18 in
Type: herbaceous perennial
Flowers: Blue, purple, white
Comments: The flowers are clustered at the top of 18-inch
stems. After the terminal flower cluster fades, the side
shoots may flower. If given a good soil, the plant will
spread quickly via runners, especially if grown in shade.
In sunny sites, the tendency to be invasive is not so
pronounced.
Propagation: Division may be done in spring or fall.
Seed may be planted outdoors in late spring or early
summer with flowering occurring the following year. The
seed is fine and may be hard to handle. Seed planted
indoors germinates in 2 to 3 weeks.
Cultivars:
'Joan Elliott' - Deep violet blue flowers (Vis. 1).
'Superba' - Large clusters of violet flowers.
