Agave americana--Century Plant
Type: House plant
Comments: Century Plant gets big in its native habitat but
as a house plant is not so large. Full sun is the best
light exposure. The plant requires regular watering in
summer but is kept drier during the winter. Century plant
is a slow grower that seldom needs repotting, but when
needed, March and April are the best months. A porous
soil and firm potting are needed. Temperatures between 55
degrees and 70 degrees are ideal.
Propagation: Propagation is by offsets produced at the
base of the plant. These can be removed and potted up in
the spring.
