Acer saccharinum--Silver Maple

Hardiness Zones: 3 to 9
Height: 70 ft Spread: 50 ft Form: rounded
Type: deciduous tree
Annual Growth Rate: more 18 inches

Comments: Silver maple is a fast-growing, weak wooded tree
that is useful in wet areas. It transplants easily but
the root system forms surface roots. Silver maple can be
a prolific seed producer giving rise to many volunteer
trees. The fall foliage color (Vis. 4) is generally yellow
but not necessarily outstanding.

Cultivars:
'Sheridan' - A broadly ovate crown.
'Silver Queen' - A seedless cultivar that forms a more
dominant central leader, (Vis. 1) slender branches and
better crotch angles. The foliage (Vis. 2) has thin
lobes.
'Skinneri' - A cut-leaved (Vis. 3) selection with lateral
branches that are more slender and horizontal than
other silver maples.
