Acer ginnala--Amur Maple

Annual Growth Rate: less than 12 inches

Comments: Amur Maple is an excellent, low growing tree for
small yards (Vis. 4). It develops naturally into a
multi-stemmed clump but can be trained to a single trunk.
The pink to red fruit (Vis. 7) clusters in summer are
followed by yellow to red foliage color (Vis. 6) in the
fall. Amur Maple is a hardy tree that tolerates poor soil
and may be used in hedges or screens (Vis. 5).

Cultivars:
'Bailey Compact' - A finer branched, more compact form
reaching a height of 12 feet and a spread of 15 feet.
'Betzam' (Beethoven TM) - A columnar form reaching a
height of 25 feet and a spread of 15 feet.
'Compactum' - More compact than the species but still
reaching a height of 20 feet.
'Embers' - Selected by Bailey Nurseries, Newport, MN
for its red fruit (Vis. 1) production and outstanding
fall color.
'Emerald Elf' - A compact, slow-growing selection with
good scarlet to purple fall color. The plant reaches
a height and spread of about 6 feet.
'Flame' - A dense (Vis. 2) shrub or small tree with red
fruit in summer and fiery red fall (Vis. 3) foliage
color.
'Mondy' (Red Rhapsody TM) - Bright red fall color.
'Mozam' (Mozart TM) - A single-stemmed tree a strong
central leader and pyramidal form.
