Soybean Mosaic (Soybean Mosaic Virus)
List of files and visuals associated with this text.
Plant infection by mosaic can occur at any time, and
symptom expression depends upon many factors. Generally,
young leaves are mottled, smaller than normal and may be
crinkled, curled or distorted (Vis. 1). Plants can be
stunted and browning of stems and petioles occurs.
Maturity is delayed. Symptoms are more severe under cool
temperatures. The pattern of infected plants depends
upon aphid transmission of the virus. For control, avoid
harvesting infected plants for seed (Vis. 2).
