Purple Seed Stain (Cercospora kikuchii)
List of files and visuals associated with this text.
The fungus causing purple seed stain can infect seeds,
pods, stems and leaves of the plants. (Vis. 1) However,
the pink to purple discoloration of seeds is the most
conspicuous symptom. Seeds with more than 50%
discoloration are poor quality and, if planted, result in
delayed emergence and reduced stands. Disease symptoms
appear on leaves as numerous irregular, small, necrotic
spots. Infection takes place at flowering or soon after.
