Indeterminate varieties are primarily grown in the
norther U.S. and have overlapping vegetative and
reproductive growth periods. In these varieties,
flowering begins first on the mid to lower nodes, then
progresses up the main stem. Usually, less than one-half
of the main stem nodes have developed at flowering. For
indeterminates, the flower are borne in a cluster at the
nodes, and at maturity these plants tend to have a sparse
and even distribution of pods at all nodes.
