Comments: Like most salvias, this one prefers a sunny       
growing area with a well-drained soil.  The plant is        
native to Asia and Europe but has become naturalized in     
some areas of North America.  The flowers are borne in      
long, open spikes.  The leaves are coarsely toothed.        

Cultivars:                                                  
   'Purple Rain' - Purple flowers are produced most of the  
     summer.
