Ornamental Plants plus Version 2.0 - 00001328
01/01/98
Saxifraga--Strawberry Begonia
Type: house plant
Comments: Saxifraga is not a strawberry, begonia or
geranium. The common name, Mother of Thousands, refers to
the many plantlets produced on runners. Provide high
light intensity with some light shade during the summer.
More plantlets are produced under humid conditions. Allow
the soil to dry slightly between watering. Cool
temperatures are best, ideally 40 degrees at night and 60
degrees during the day. The cultivar 'Tricolor' has
variegated leaves but is less vigorous.
Propagation: Propagation is by runner plants and division.
