Comments: Velvet Flower is not easy to grow. The flowers are trumpet-shaped and have interesting veining in a contrasting color. Velvet Flower is a source of cut flowers but may need staking. The plant dislikes heat, cold, heavy soil, dry sandy soil, and over-watering. Flowering is best in cool weather.
Propagation: The seed germinates in two to three weeks at temperatures between 70 and 75 degrees and in darkness. The seed is very fine and may be difficult to handle. The plant dislikes transplanting except when small.
