Chamaecyparis pisifera--Sawara Falsecypress

Height: 60 ft   Spread: 15 ft  Form: pyramidal              
Type: narrow-leaved evergreen tree                          
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches                         

Comments: Grow Falsecypress cultivars in a sunny location   
in moist, well-drained loam.  Some of the cultivars listed  
grow too large for use in foundation planting.  There may   
be problems with sun scorch on some cultivars.              

Cultivars:                                                  
   'Aurea Compacta' - Soft green foliage with golden tips.  
     A low growing, mound-shaped plant.                     
   'Boulevard' - Soft, silver-blue foliage on a full        
     pyramidal habit.                                       
   'Compacta' - A slow growing, mound-shaped plant.         
   'Cyanoviridis' - A dense habit and outstanding blue      
     foliage.                                               
   var. filifera - Long, thin, thread-like foliage and an   
     irregular, mounding habit.  Can become a large tree    
     with time.                                             
   var. filifera 'Aurea' - A slow growing cultivar with     
     yellow, thread-like foliage where exposed to           
     sunlight.                                              
   var. filifera 'Aurea Nana' - The foliage is yellow on    
     the tips. The plant becomes an irregular mound.        
   var. filifera 'Aureovariegata' - A mounded form with     
     green and golden yellow foliage.                       
   var. filifera 'Mops' - A low, mounding plant with        
     yellow, thread-like foliage.                           
   var. filifera 'Nana' - A rounded, slow-growing           
     plant with thread-like foliage.                        
   var. filifera 'Sungold' - Bright yellow new growth.      
   'Golden Pin Cusion' - A slow-growing, spreading,         
     plant with yellow foliage.                             
   'Gold Spangle' - Bright yellow foliage all year.         
   'Plumosa Aurea Compacta' - A dwarf with yellow foliage   
     at the tips of the branches.                           
   'Plumosa Compressa Aurea' - A dwarf with tiny, gold-     
     tipped foliage.                                        
   'Plumosa Juniperoidies' - A compact shrub with pale      
     yellow new growth                                      
   'Squarrosa Intermedia' - Thin foliage along branches     
     provides an unusual appearance.                        
   'Squarrosa Minima' - A slow-growing, globe-shaped form.  
   'Tsukumo' - An irregular plant with fine-textured        
     foliage.                                               
   'Weston Selection' - A dense pyramidal plant with        
     darker foliage than the species.                       
   'White Pygmy' - A small plant with white-tipped          
     foliage.
