CELASTRUS INSECT PROBLEMS

Euonymus scale causes leaf yellowing followed by plant
death. The insects are not readily seen and so can build
up to large numbers before they are noticed. The
preferred method of control involves regular inspection
for early detection of the infestation then spraying with
dormant oil.

Oystershell and San Jose scale may also infest
bittersweet. The preferred method of control involves
regular inspection for early detection of the infestation
then spraying with dormant oil.

Aphids suck plant juices, and heavy infestations distort
new growth and cover the leaves with sticky honeydew. The
insects can be dislodged with a high pressure water spray
from the garden hose.
