Allium aflatunense--Purple Allium


Height: 30 in   Spacing: 6 in                               
Type: hardy bulb                                            
Flowers: Purple                                             

Comments: The purple flowers are borne in 4-inch, dense     
umbels or rounded clusters.  The flowers are purple with    
darker veins and can be dried or used fresh in              
arrangements.  Provide a growing area in sun and with a     
well-drained soil.  The best planting time is in the fall   
with a suggested planting depth of 5 inches.                

Propagation: Bulblets can be separated from larger bulbs    
in the fall.  Replant them immediately.  Seed may also be   
used.                                                       

Cultivars:                                                  
   'Purple Sensation' - Round, 3-inch clusters of dark      
     purple flowers.
