United States - Canada Trade
U.S.-Canada Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which took
effecton January 1, 1989, was designed to ratchet down
all bilateral tariffs to zero by 1998. The United States
and Canada maintain the largest bilateral trade
relationship in the world. U.S. exports to Canada
comprise more than one-fifth of total U.S. exports and
Canada's exports to the U.S. make up more than
two-thirds of its total exports.
