Institute of International Agriculture was established in 1964 with the objective of promoting and coordinating programs that provide international opportunities for students and faculty. The Institute is helpful for Michigan Agriculture by making contacts with various institutions in the world for possible trading partnership. Introduction of new germplasms is being helpful for breeding and crop improvement. The Institute is one of the four cornerstones of College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). It is also linked with Office of International Studies and Programs. The mission of the Institute is to support the incorporation of an international dimension into the teaching, research and outreach activities of CANR. The institute sponsors study tours aboard for Michigan agribusiness and hosts training programs. These events often open avenues for future trade and cooperation.
