Food Safety Training for KanWork Abstract: This 22-page final report provides information on a collaborative project of Kansas State University Cooperative Extension Service, the Department of Foods and Nutrition, and the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management and Dietetics, and the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. The goal of the project was to provide food safety and job- seeking skills training to KanWork participants in selected counties in Kansas. KanWork participants were individuals identifies as needing education, job skills training, and job readiness training. Participants completed the SERVSAFE training program taught by extension agents certified in the SERVSAFE program, and Job Club training. Six of thirty-one participants obtained a position in foodservice after completion of the SERVSAFE training. Employment status of the remaining participants is given, for those whose employment status was known. The report provides information on pre/post tests, employment of participants, food safety training outlines, and benefits of the project.
