Pathogens are on your Path, Producer through Consumer-
Partners to a Safe Food Supply
Abstract:
This youth curriculum and materials were adapted for
bilingual and low literacy youth from an existing
program,"Producer through Consumer-Partners to a Safe
Food Supply". Lesson 1 uses the Mystery of the Poisoned
Panther Picnic to focus on causes of foodborne illness
and how to prevent it. Lesson 2 includes information on
microorganisms using a song with an activity sheet. The
video is available in English and Spanish. Each lesson
includes objectives, a list of materials needed,
preparations for teaching, pretest information, and
activity outlines. Materials for low literacy utilize a
cartoon-style pre and post test evaluation instrument, a
"jingle" in rap style, a worksheet/placemat with
illustrations. The content was modified to be more
concise, to enable teachers to use the lessons in two-45
