TITLE:Minorities on Campus --A Handbook for Enhancing Diversity
ABSTRACT: This Handbook is a practical guide for you, the
trustees, presidents, administrators, and faculty--indeed
the entire campus community. It is meant to assist you
in your efforts to increase minority participation and to
make our nation's campuses hospitable to minority
students, faculty, and staff. It concentrates on
strategies that have been used by institutions across the
country, gleaning principles and common themes that have
been identified by individuals and institutions with
experience in enhancing the participation of minorities
in all aspects of campus life.
Each chapter contains illustrative programs and
practices, examples of actual programs. They represent
both "typical" approaches--that is, similar programs
exist on a number of campuses---and more unusual ones,
which if not one-of-a-kind, are not widely duplicated.
The Handbook is not exhaustive; there are many campus
stories not described here.
