TITLE: Exploring nontraditional and new emerging
occupations in vocational education.

YEAR PUBLISHED: 1983
JOURNAL: Vocational-Guidance-Quarterly; 1983 Jun Vol 31(4)
276-279

ABSTRACT: Describes a state in-service program in which 70
vocational counselors participated in a seminar designed to
create an awareness of sex-role socialization and sex bias
in occupational opportunities, to acquaint Ss with the
recruiting needs of business and the current problems
related to meeting affirmative action goals, and to help Ss
recruit students in nontraditional vocational education
programs. Ss also were involved in a "mini-internship" in
a nontraditional or emerging occupation. Objectives were
developed to provide a support system that counselors and
employers could use to assist students in making career
decisions. (PsycLIT Database Copyright 1983 American
