TITLE: University of Hawaii, Windward Community College:
Educational Development Plan, 1985-90.
YEAR PUBLISHED: 1985
NOTE: 87 p.
ABSTRACT: Based on wide input from both faculty and staff
members, Windward Community College's (WCC's) five-year
educational plan was designed as the guiding document for
institutional development from 1985 to 1990. The first
sections of the plan examine the history and background of
the campus; WCC's planning process; its mission and goals;
and the external and internal factors, as well as the
assumptions, that provided the context for the planning
process. The next section offers an assessment of WCC in
terms of its accreditation status and the progress it has
made in implementing the goals of the 1979-1985 Education
Development Plan concerning instruction, vocational
education programs, learning skills program, media
production center, student services, academic
administration, and community services. Next, a list and
timeline are provided, detailing the college's 1985-90
priorities for each of its liberal arts and vocational
programs, learning assistance and academic support, and
student and community services. The final sections of the
plan examine staffing needs and affirmative action goals,
projected activity levels and resources needed to support
the college, and the physical facilities development plan.
Appendixes provide demographic data on WCC students. (AJL)

This is an ERIC database document. ERIC is the National
Education Information Network for providing ready access
to the literature of education -descriptions of exemplary
programs, research and development efforts, and related
information that can be used in developing more effective
educational programs. The ERIC database is currently
available on CD-ROM in the main library (ground floor of
the west wing) at Michigan State University. To locate
ERIC documents in the library identify the first line of
each record (i.e., the field ERIC TITLE NUMBER). ED
following ERIC TITLE NUMBER indicates an ERIC document,
an unpublished research study. Most of these items are
available in the Microforms library, located on the 3rd
floor of the west wing. All you need is the six digit ED
number. If EJ follows ERIC TITLE NUMBER the item is a
journal article. The complete journal name is listed after
the code JOURNAL.
