ABSTRACT: Updated in September, 1975, this faculty handbook
informs faculty of major policies and regulations of the
university. The contents are divided into five major
sections: organization of the faculty; conduct of the
academic program; personnel policies for faculty; councils
and administrative committees; and councils and personnel
benefits and miscellaneous information. The university
charter and trustee bylaws pertaining to the faculty and
officers of the university are included in appendices. Of
particular significance to faculty members are details
regarding committees, academic policy statements, research
and grants, academic freedom, teaching responsibilities,
salaries and outside employment, promotion and tenure,
leaves of avsence, alcoholism policy, affirmative action,
academic support services, ethical conduct, travel,
engagement in political activity, insurance, housing, and
