TITLE: Statistics on Minorities and Women: Information
Useful for Affirmative Action Compliance Programs in New
York State.

ABSTRACT: Prepared to provide employers and government
agencies with data needed to effectively develop,
implement,
and analyze Affirmative Action Compliance Programs as
required by Revised Order No. 4 of the U.S. Department of
Labor Office of Federal Contract Compliance, this booklet
specifically covers the following factors enumerated in the
Order: (1) the minority population of the labor areas
surrounding the facility; (2) the percentage of the female
and minority work forces as each compares with the total
work force in the immediate labor area; (3) the size of the
female and minority unemployment force in the labor area
surrounding the facility; and, (4) the general availability
of minorities and women having requisite skills in the
labor
area and in an area from which the contractor can
reasonably
recruit. To supplement the information contained in this
booklet, data on the occupational, sex, ethnic, and racial
characteristics of job applicants registered with the New
York State Employment Services are available. Nine tables
are included along with a New York State Standard
Metropolitan Statistical areas map. (Author/AM)
