The 4-H REAACT Initiative

REAACT

Exploring the outdoors with GPS technologyAbout REAACT

Finding it with GPSThe 4-H Reaching Environmental Awareness and Action in Communities Together (REAACT) initiative provides young 4-H environmental stewards and their adult partners with a great mix of fun that gets them outdoors and exploring the wonders of Michigan's natural and built environments.

REAACT is designed to help young people develop personal connections – through direct experience, explorations and service projects – to their local environments, no matter whether those environments are urban, suburban or rural. The young people will increase their environmental skills and technology literacy by investigating issues, planning projects, contacting experts and becoming good environmental citizens.

Teams from five counties were involved during the initial three years of REAACT. They are:

  • Midland County
    Midland Arnold Center
  • Monroe County
    Airport Community Schools
  • Oakland County
    Hazel Park
    Newman Court (Pontiac)
  • Saginaw County
    Bridgeport-Spaulding Middle School
    Ricker Middle School
    Webber Middle School
    South Middle School
  • Wayne County
    Cass Technical High School
    Post Middle School

Monroe and Oakland Counties will expand their REAACT efforts into Year Four.
